Paddle Surf (SUP)
Paddle Surf, Stand-up Paddle Surf (SUP) or in Hawaiian language, Hoe he'e nalu, is a sport originated in Hawaii. It is a modality of Surfing, that enables surfers to paddle further into the ocean than typically.

SUP has technically been around since ancient Polynesian times although it did have a 300 year or so hiatus. It was picked up again in the 60s by the Waikiki 'beach-boys' in Hawaii, who found its higher advantage as a better way to keep an eye on the pupils in their surf schools.

Stand-Up Paddle Surf combines the traditional Polynesian outrigger canoe paddling with Surf. SUP boards are large surfboards propelled by a standing paddler who uses an extra-long canoe paddle. SUP is an increasingly popular way of keeping fit, and improving core-stability - flat water SUP trips, and 'down-winders' are both a great work out, and a good way to get on the water when the surf is flat...and a SUP session is definitely more fun than hitting the gym.
