    Shake your body, activate your energy & feel the excitement of Indian dance!

    We invite you to join us at these amusing workshops that bring together Pilates' therapeutic & streghtening benefits, Modern Bollywood & Bhangra dance's hapiness and dynamism together with the spiritual, physical and emotional benefits of Yoga.

    At these workshops you will learn Modern Bollywood & Bhangra steps, movements, sequences and a choreography.
    In addition you will also improve your postural alignment, strengthen and strecth your body with Pilates for dance & Yoga techniques.

    Taught by "Shankara": Pilates Method qualified instructor, Hatha & Dynamic Yoga teacher, Bollywood & Bhangra dance teacher & dancer qualified in India, USA & Spain. She is member of the Chandigarh United Dance Club (Punjab,India) and the Bhangra dance troupées "Bhangra Angels" & "Bhangra Harippa".

    In these workshops we will prepare our body for this extremely vigorous dance with the Pilates Method to gain a better postural awareness and a strong core in order to avoid any possible injuries and to increase our endurance levels for this dance.

    We will also activate our body and increase our energy levels with Bhangra & Modern Bollywood dance.

    Bhangra is a folk dance from Punjab (North of India), it is a celebration of life, happiness and joy. Bhangra is a metaphor for fertility and harvesting. The origin of Bhangra can be traced back to ancient days when Punjabi farmers danced during the season of harvest and it's the main influence of Bollywood dance.

    Bhangra is a very intense and highly stimulating form of dance wich provides a therapeutic effect and offers happiness & vitality to the dancers.

    Also its rythm and movement helps to stimulate and to balance both brain hemispheres achieving with this an ideal rythm & balance. Due to its cardiovascular character, it also shapes and tones the body.

    Bhangra was created among farmers while they worked in fields. Traditionally performed to celebrate the harvest, bhangra reflected the enthusiasm and appreciation shared among rural folk as they witness their hard labor bear fruit. Bhangra season concludes with Baisakhi, a festival that marks the arrival of the harvesting season.

    Bollywood dance is the dance-form used in the Indian films. It is a mixture of numerous dance styles: classical Indian dance, Indian folk dance (like Bhangra) together with other more contemporary stiles such as Jazz, Funky, Hip hop, Salsa, Samba..etc.

    To complete each workshop we will practice Yoga techniques to stretch and revitalize our bodies and to achieve a total body-mind relaxation.
